The Domplatz (cathedral square) in Cologne, Germany is the site for VOLUMINA EX-CATHEDRAL, an 8-channel soundspace installation presented during the Art Cologne Festival, Germany's largest annual art festival.

The installation audio is made entirely of the resonant frequencies of the cathedral which were recorded by the artist in the summer of 2003, and which were also featured as part of the SEVEN SPACES (2004) installation.

This outdoor installation, next to Germany's largest, most revered cathedral, affords the listener the opportunity to hear the rarified resonant signature of the cathedral as an installation, which he/she can then compare directly to the nearby, nearly imperceptible cathedral resonance.

The title refers to the volumes or masses of sound that are always present in the cathedral, and their relocation outside the cathedral to the Domplatz. The installation celebrates the cathedral as a noted historical site and the engine of a mighty acoustic phenomenon.
