ENDLESS COLUMNS was originally conceived as a part of a much larger installation complex. In May-June 2005, along with the SOUND MASS and breath-sky installations, it created a network of interrelated pieces at bitforms gallery in New York City.

Early in 2006 I decided to create a stand alone version of the installation, which was subsequently shown at the Hudson Vallery Center for Contemporary Arts in Westchester County, NY in their third blockbuster exhibition: reverence.

For this exhibition the principal video channel was not changed. The smaller video monitors were dropped in favor of bringing a sound installation into the video room, and the video was presented at a much larger scale.

The video features up to five semi-transparent layers of image of endless panning up the colmuns of the Cathedral of Cologne. The resonance of that space, adapted from the 8-channel SOUND MASS installation, is featured in ENDLESS COLUMNS as a 5.1-channel sound installation, which along with the video investigates senses of sonic and visual architectural engagement.
