Fragment: Morton Algorithm

Software for Sonic Architecture Generation

The Morton algorithm issues immersive sound fields that exhibit original, unified designs while also displaying infinitely changing possibilities in time-based formal structure. The program achieves the generation of consistent, yet ever-variable sound fields of unique formal identity through strategic use of pre-existent site resonance source material, the atomization and recasting of structured components, and the partial control of randomization.

Resultant sound field installations present exclusive characteristics by way of
absolute site-specificity, transformative sonic architecture, distinctive surface detail and subjective approach.

Morton has been a program-in-progress since
August 2007 and is now operational in a prototype. Program development will continue towards the subsequent creation of new soundspace installations with the algorithm and its evolving concepts.
