Spectral analysis of
the silence (room tone) of a space reveals its
underlying harmonic resonance. These digital prints feature this
spectral data -- maps of the unique time, frequency and amplitude
matrix of a site. Much like photographs, they are unique images of the
past.
The sonic prints from 2004 are often featured in series, and also
constitute the 2-D images shown in the 'Seven Spaces' exhibition. This
installation, in addition to sound, presented spectrographic images of
site-sound that was recorded in each of seven cathedral or religious
sites in Europe.
Similarly, music and other sounds are also mappable. The Print
Catalogue also features a number of these sonic prints.
Images are printed in edition with archival inks on 100% cotton,
acid-free art papers of the finest quality.
